Well, I do think it addresses the issues a lot of people have had with the economy. There are lots of things to fix with D2X, one of them being the relative low availability of most of the really good items which gives people a high incentive to discover duping methods. So while the old guard chars might be higher level, I don't see that impacting the new chars. So as far as the new chars are concerned, the old chars won't exist in any way - they won't show up on the ladder, they can't be used as mules, etc. because "new" characters won't (apparently) be able to interact with "old" characters at all. It will just be somewhat less flooded with SoJ's, uber-items, etc.Īs for the Experience thing, it seems to me its just a way to keep the old guard players in a higher position than the new guard players, by making it more difficult for the new people to obtain the levels the old people already have. Nobody will have anything great to trade right at first, of course, but as time goes by the economy should grow again. As for trading, new chars will be able to trade with other new chars. This has been done before, several times. Only players created after the patch will show up on the new ladder. The ladder's not really an "opt-in" sort of thing - it just displays the top 50 (100?) players. Otherwise, there will be no point to trading, since you won't be able to give anyone anything. That you just won't be able to do that if you join that ladder? That makes sense. If you don't give a flying fuck about D2, that's great, but leave it outside this thread.

Oh, and no "Does anyone still play that game?" style responses. So what do you guys think? Will this revitalize the economy? Will it "solve" many of the twinking/duping problems, and their detrimental effects on the economy? Will it piss you off? (I know I've got a 100% legit lvl 46 werebear who's got some nice stuff I'll hate to not be able to pass on.) However the cap of 99 levels will remain. # The experience system will be completely redone, according to Bill Roper a character at level 75 will already count as a very high level character. It seems that it will be even impossible for old and new characters to play together in one game. # The real sensation: There will be another ladder reset Only people who create completely new characters will be able to participate, twinking (the transfer of items from other, older chracters and mules) will not be possible for these character. Among other things reportedly in patch 1.10 (including new runewords/crafted items!)
